Twitch: January has the biggest audience on the platform in 17 months

The year 2024 started very well for Twitch, which achieved further growth in its audience in January, reaching the platform’s highest level in 17 months.

According to data published by the website StreamsCharts, total hours watched on Twitch grew 7% compared to December, which had already shown growth, and reached 1.923 billion hours watched.

Those largely responsible for this growth in audience on Amazon’s live streaming platform were Drops, which are prizes that viewers win after watching broadcasts of certain games for a certain time, and esports events, which are quite popular around the world.

The highs and lows of Twitch viewership in January 2024

Total hours watched wasn’t the only number that grew on Twitch in January 2024, the platform also saw positive numbers in its average viewers, active channels and average active channels, in addition to the total number of games that were streamed.

Despite this, the platform saw a drop in Peak Viewers and Channels in January, both dropping 29% compared to December 2023.

Yes, the game that mixes survival and capturing creatures is a real rage, breaking records on Steam and Xbox Game Pass, and appears in 6th position among the most popular categories on Amazon’s live streaming platform, being the 5th most popular game , surpassing other popular games like Valorant, Minecraft and Counter-Strike.

Officially launched on January 19th, Palworld didn’t need the entire month to appear among the most popular games on Twitch, achieving a total of 59.3 million hours watched.
