Twitch expands Partner Plus program and cuts Prime subscription revenue
Twitch announced an update to its payment system for streamers, expanding the Partner Plus program for affiliates, but cutting revenue from Prime subscriptions.
In a publication on its official blog, this Wednesday (24), Twitch revealed the news for the Partner Plus program, which offers a 70/30 revenue split for the streamer, and the new system for Prime subscriptions, included in the Amazon subscription service.
Partner Plus program
Previously only available to Twitch partner streamers, the Partner Plus program, which offers a better revenue split for the streamer, will also be available to affiliates and is now called the Plus Program.
The requirements for entry into the program have also been modified, including the addition of a new tier with a 60/40 revenue split for smaller channels.
Level 1
Revenue Split: 60/40
Requirement: 100 subscription points
Level 2
Revenue split: 70/30
Requirement: 300 subscription points
(Tier 1 Subs = 1 point, Tier 2 Subs = 2 points, and Tier 3 Subs = 6 points.)
The new Plus Program system will start in May 2024.
In addition, Twitch also reversed the $100,000 limit for revenue in the 70/30 format. Previously, once the channel reached the limit, the division of revenue that exceeded 100 thousand dollars would return to the 50/50 format.
The change, which removes the limit, is now in effect.
Prime subscriptions on Twitch
While the new Plus Program increases the inclusion of streamers in a better revenue sharing system, Twitch decided to cut the amount that the streamer receives from a Prime subscription.
Every Amazon Prime subscriber has a free subscription per month on Twitch and the streamer received US$2.50 for each Prime subscription on his channel.
Starting on June 3rd, the value will be adjusted for each country, as each of them has a different Prime subscription value when converted to dollars. To give you an idea, in the United States and Canada, the value to be received for a prime subscription will be US$2.25 (this being the highest value on the entire planet), while in Brazil, the value will be US$ 0.60.
According to Twitch, the streamers most affected will be those who depend on Prime subscriptions for more than 70% of their channel’s revenue.
