Feudal Friends couldn’t prove itself for being a good example of casual co-op game
Casual co-op games such as Overcooked or Moving Out are amazing choices for a live stream due to their ability of creating fun moments. You can gather your friends and spend a couple of enjoyable hours in your live streams with your audience.
And Feudal Friends tries to bring this experience with a different theme but before gathering your friends, there are a few things to talk about this game.
Feudal Friends brings another casual co-op game experience, what could go wrong?
Feudal Friends is a co-op team-based tower defence game. In this game you’re going to defend your castle while preparing your soldiers to fight with your friends in a way Overcooked or Moving Out does.
Although the main idea is brilliant for both creating an enjoyable game session and fun live stream chains, Feudal Friends lacks some of the main elements for being fun and creating problemless gameplay.
First of all, even if those kind of games are more enjoyable with your friends, you still need to be able to play them single player but Feudal Friends doesn’t have a single player mode. That means you can’t even play this game if you can’t find a friend to play. I’m also not sure whether you can find players or not in online servers because I couldn’t.
The other big problem is the controls in both technical and the design way. Today’s version of Feudal Friends is not playable with controllers ‘’yet’’. We probably should talk about this later on the performance part of the review. On the other hand, even keyboard controls makes you tired after a couple of rounds you play.
There are lots of key to press and lots of steps to prepare a soldier. Those kind of game’s best part is that they are not only basic but also easy to play. Of course they include challenge, but the main part is being casual and basically fun. Feudal Friends can’t be one of them unfortunately.
As I said, the main idea still looks bright. Melting iron, forging it and making a weapon for soldiers then watching them defending your castle or yourself defending your caste seems fun. But both technical problems and some bad taken decisions can’t make Feudal Friends perfect for a live stream.
Bright ideas, bad combinations
If we look at Feudal Friends separating its problems, yes, it can provide us endless gameplay time such as its kinds. You can always gather up your friends and play it again and again.
But there are lots of limitations here such as not having a single-player mode and some technical problems. I’m not sure if you’d like to choose this game for a fun live stream.
Performance on the other hand, I’ve tested Feudal Friends’s PC version on STEAM and fortunately I haven’t bump into any problems like glitches or FPS problems. It runs fine. The biggest problem with Feudal Friends is the UI and the controller integratation.
As I said, controllers don’t work properly in Feudal Friends and that wastes the whole ‘’co-op gameplay’’ feature. Game recognises your controller but you can’t use it. With controller connected, you can’t even select anything on menus and in game. This situation can change with an update later and I see that developers are aware of it, but today, it’s a big problem.
Feudal Friends
Summary
Feudal Friends tries to bring another casual co-op experience such as Overcooked and Moving Out. Although there are brilliant ideas for making the game fun and fun to watch, technical problems and some wrong taken decisions can’t be enough for making Feudal Friends best pick for a live stream.
