YouTube tests new video playback tools

YouTube hasn’t had major changes in its interface and user experience for some time, but Google’s video platform, which is also the biggest video platform today, decided to test some new video playback tools.

There are three new tools, which are available to some YouTube Premium subscribers around the world. The new video playback features, which promise to improve the user experience on Google’s platform, will be available for testing until August.

And one of these new tools is Video Playback Speed Adjustment.

2x video playback

As is already common with audio messages in some instant messengers, YouTube will now also allow the user to accelerate the playback speed of videos.

The new feature is in testing until August 13th and enables the 2x speed playback function.

For those who have the test available, to use 2x speed in video playback, just hold and press at any point in the video to increase playback speed.

Other features in testing on YouTube

In addition to the video playback acceleration tool, YouTube is also testing other features to improve the user experience on the platform.

One such feature is the Lock Screen. With it, the user can prevent accidental touches on the screen, disabling the input of touches during the playback of a video.

To use this tool, the user needs to select the “Lock Screen” option in the video playback settings (the gear icon). Lock Screen will be in testing until August 5th.

Also in testing until August 13th are larger views of video previews as you slide through the timeline. The feature, according to YouTube, will allow you to find a specific moment in the video more easily.

There is still no prediction of when and if these new features and tools will arrive for all YouTube users.
