YouTube: Partner Program launches a new modular structure

YouTube is changing its monetization structure for its channels: now, with a new modular structure for the Partner Program, content creators on the Google video platform will have three different ways to make money with their videos, whether they are live or not.

The new modular structure of the YouTube Partner Program adds three different ways to monetize a channel, with new terms to be accepted by creators.

The new terms, according to the modules chosen by the creator, including the base term of the Program, must be accepted by July 10th. If the user does not accept the terms by that date, their channel will be removed from the YouTube Partner Program.

With a new modular structure with different monetization modes, the creator will have to accept the basic terms of the YouTube Partner Program again. From there, the user can choose the monetization modules that best match their content.

These are: Watch Page Monetization Module, Shorts Monetization Module and the Commerce Product Addendum.

Watch Page Monetization Module

This is YouTube’s default monetization module, which should apply to most creators on the platform. Monetization takes place through ads in videos and live broadcasts on channels, also working when embedded on other pages.

You must accept the new terms to continue generating revenue from ads.

Shorts Monetization Module

This module is YouTube’s new bet, which is investing heavily in its Shorts platform: short length videos, in vertical format, to compete with the success of TikTok.

With this option enabled, the creator will be able to monetize his content through ads served between Shorts.

In order to monetize Shorts, the creator’s content will have to comply with the advertiser-friendly content guidelines, which exclude non-original Shorts and fake views from monetization.

Commerce Product Addendum

This module is more aimed at those who broadcast live on YouTube. With it, the creator will unlock some tools that will help engage with their audience, including channel memberships and chat tools like Super Chat and Super Stickers.

The terms for this module have not changed, so anyone who has previously accepted the terms does not need to do so again.

It’s important to note that creators can opt in and out of any of these modules at any time by contacting YouTube Creator Support.
