YouTube implements emotes in live stream chats
One of Twitch‘s most popular features is now coming to YouTube: Google’s video platform has started to implement emotes in its live stream chats and also in video comments.
YouTube Emotes are yet another way for the audience to interact with the creator, establishing a more personalized connection between streamers and viewers.
For starters, Emotes will be available for live streams of gaming content, but the platform has already assured that new custom emotes for other types of live videos will be made available soon.
The official announcement of the novelty was made earlier this week, through YouTube’s official social networks.
The initial emotes, a total of 62, were developed by three creators: Abelle Hayford, Guy Field and Yujin Won.
How to use YouTube Emotes
YouTube Emotes were created to cover the most common reactions of the gamer audience and using them is very easy. Whether in a live broadcast or even in the comments of a video, just click on the face where the emojis are and the first category, “YouTube”, already stands out, with all the emotes available so far.
For those who like to be faster, there are also shortcuts, just like on Twitch. By typing in specific words such as “GG” and “Game Over”, the corresponding emote will be revealed to be sent in chat.
