X will launch an app for TVs, focusing on videos

Elon Musk continues on his journey to transform X (formerly known as Twitter) into a social network focused on videos and after showing his plans to start a live streaming service on the platform, now the entrepreneur wants to compete with YouTube on the service of videos and will launch a social network application for TVs.

Elon Musk himself confirmed the news on his official page on X and, according to the Fortune website, the social network’s TV app should be launched at some point this week, for Samsung and Amazon devices.

Elon Musk wants X to compete with YouTube

Since January, Elon Musk has warned that X is now a “videos first” platform. With this, the businessman will compete in territory dominated by YouTube and also by Twitch, in the case of live streaming videos.

With the new application for TVs, considered very similar to YouTube, Elon takes another step towards transforming X into a more attractive platform for content creators and advertisers.

Winning over content creators

Elon Musk’s strategy to transform X into a primarily video platform is simple: attract content creators and celebrities.

And the businessman’s promise is of great financial gains for creators who use the platform as their main field of work. To give you an idea, Mr. Beast, one of the biggest YouTubers today, used X to publish one of his videos in full and the gain was immense. According to the YouTuber himself, he earned no less than 250 thousand dollars from the video published on X.

Despite this, Mr. Beast believes that the revenue was “a scam”, as advertisers took advantage of his popularity to buy ad space in his video and, therefore, increasing the YouTuber’s revenue.
