Will Overwatch 2 bring back 6v6 battles? Game producer comments
When Overwatch 2 launched, the move to free-to-play wasn’t the only new thing: battles are now 5v5, with just one tank, as opposed to the previous game’s 6v6 format.
The change, of course, upset a lot of Blizzard FPS players, who want the return of the 6v6 format, with two tanks, in Overwatch 2.
Despite these demands from much of the community, there don’t seem to be any indications that the 6v6 format will ever come back to the game, officially replacing Overwatch 2’s current 5v5.
And who threw that bucket of cold water on the complaining players was the executive producer of Overwatch 2, Jared Neuss. In a message on Twitter, he tried to end the discussion about a possible return of the 6v6 mode to the game.
In a discussion of who should speak in favor of 6v6 mode and who should speak in favor of 5v5 mode, Jared Neuss wrote: “Nostalgia is a powerful drug”. Thus, implying that the 5v5 mode is here to stay and there will be no return of the 6v6 format.
Nostalgia is a powerful drug.

For the “nostalgic”, Overwatch 2 has an unofficial 6v6 mode
For “nostalgic” players, who prefer the 6v6 format in Overwatch, the game has a mode available that brings back the initial gameplay of Blizzard’s FPS.
Created by the player ecksdee, using the Workshop Mode, the 6v6 mode is available for anyone who wants to emulate the gameplay experience of the original title.
To access the mode, simply use the following codes:
Main build: KHTG0
Staging build: ESMXJ
In addition to 6v6 battles, the mode created by ecksdee also brings some features present in the original Overwatch, such as the old health bars of Tanks.
