Wildermyth-Omenroad

Wildermyth – Omenroad is a DLC full of content and possibilities

For those of you who don’t know the game Wildermyth, let’s talk a bit about it and how it works. In Wildermyth we are introduced to a very unique premise, where we initially create three characters, each with their own class, based on that RPG trinity, Warrior, Archer and Mage.

Then you choose one of the available campaigns and start creating your story in a game with lots of dialog, events, combat and other things on a world map to explore. There’s a lot to talk about in Wildermyth, but I’ll try to expand on the gameplay when I talk about the DLC, called Omenroad, which is the focus here.

Omenroad makes the game more usable for Streamers

Wildermyth’s base game is a very complex game, full of dialogues and slower moments that aren’t always accessible to all streamer audiences, who are looking for more dynamic gameplay. Within its various campaigns, it is possible for a streamer to make good use of its gameplay, especially because of the great possibilities included that generate a very high replay factor.

However, because it’s slower compared to other games, not everyone would be willing to keep up, and that’s where the Omenroad DLC comes in.

It brings with it a classic Roguelikes/lites mode where you have several paths, each with fights, rewards or events, something similar to games like Slay The Spire. And this faster version of its gameplay allows the game to be better consumed on a live stream. Bringing Omenroad to my channel allowed me to make the experience more enjoyable and easier for my audience to understand how the game works.

Tactical combat with Omenroad challenges are exciting for both the streamer and the audience

Now, on to the combat part of Wildermyth, in general, and how Omenroad adds to the gameplay. The combat here is tactical in style, where players have spaces to move around the map as if it were chess and there are also limits on actions to use skills, defend or attack.

The premise of Wildermyth is that your characters can die permanently or be badly injured, weakening their attributes for the next fight, so be very careful with your choices, one wrong move and you could find yourself in a very difficult situation.

In Omenroad this doesn’t change much, however, it is possible to find chests scattered around the map with a turn countdown for the player to reach them, creating a certain tension where you have to risk getting there soon to collect your rewards or be more defensive and not risk losing or hurting your heroes.

Difficulty modifiers allow each game to be more challenging than the last, allowing for more variety in this new style within Wildermyth.

Omenroad’s campaign is fun and brings novelties and new enemies

Here’s something I found a little confusing about the DLC: it has a new campaign with different characters and enemies, which is great, using path gameplay instead of classic gameplay.

However, all this new content is not available to be found or faced in the base game, which I think would be very welcome, perhaps even in its customized campaign mode, thus allowing for a much greater replay factor. This is something that I’ve noticed has put off many fans of the franchise, as its new Roguelike/lite mode doesn’t appeal to everyone, with some actually preferring its standard style of play.

Tested in its STEAM version, Wildermyth is lightweight and super accessible to several machines, as well as several translation, which allows the game to be easily accessible to more streamers.

Summary

In the end, Wildermyth Omenroad is a DLC that adds a lot to the base game, as well as making it easier for content creators to cover the game. However, because its content is limited to the new mode, it’s a little disappointing for fans of the standard game.
