We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie is charming from start to finish
Katamari is a series that people see from afar and don’t really understand what it’s about until you get your hands on the controller and start playing, enjoying the music and rolling everything in front of you and having fun. It’s pure, straightforward fun.
A game with a simple concept and a unique and charming style that brings with it a very unique feeling. In this version of Katamari, we have a remastered and enhanced version of the second title in the series, released in 2005, with redesigned graphics and a revamped interface, as well as additional content. Let’s talk about it all now.
Katamari brings a fun feeling to a livestream
Watching a Katamari live stream is all about sitting back, enjoying the soundtrack and having a good laugh at all the things you can get up to with your tiny character.
Here we have the Prince, son of the King of Cosmo on earth, creating katamaris to make people’s dreams come true, in a very charismatic adventure full of fun locations and characters to meet.
People who follow along on their live will be delighted by all the charisma and strangeness of this universe. The King of Cosmo, for example, is a very extravagant and funny character. There are several characters that you can meet during the stages and play with in addition to our prince.
Unique and innovative gameplay
Katamari’s controls are quite different from what you might expect if you’ve never tried it before. They can take a while to get used to, but they’re a lot of fun once you learn them.
Here we use the two analog sticks on the controls to move around, both forwards to walk, both backwards to go back, if we keep moving up and down alternately we rotate the katamari and so on. It’s quite different and a bit complex, but equally fun once you get the hang of it. Requiring a little more motor coordination, it can be difficult for some people, but the game itself is very easy to play, so it’s quite accessible.

New version of the game has more content, but lacks polish
In this new version of the game we have the story of the King of Cosmo, telling us about his childhood and the difficulties he went through with his father and the rigorous training in five new challenges and more history of the characters. It’s certainly a very welcome extra that only adds to the game. There’s also a selfie mode for those who like to play around with the photo mode as they scroll through the levels.
Something I noticed while playing the game was that there were some slight visual problems at certain stages, something that I don’t think should happen in a remaster of a game from the PS2 era. That’s why I feel that this part lacked a little polish, but nothing to spoil the experience. After all, the game’s performance is great, it runs very smoothly and lightly. You don’t need a very powerful machine to play.
Tested on the PC version of STEAM, the game is available in nine languages.
