Valorant: Meet Clove, first non-binary agent of the Riot Games’ FPS

Inclusion and diversity have always been important words for Riot Games in relation to the characters in its games and now it is Valorant‘s turn to raise the level of these characteristics further by welcoming Clove, the game’s first non-binary agent.

Valorant Clove

Described as a young and immortal troublemaker from Scotland, Clove arrives in Valorant this Tuesday (26), as part of Episode 8, Act II, which began on March 5th and continues until April 29th.

“When creating an agent, we strive to authentically represent a cast of diverse characters that reflect our global player base. This extends beyond just location and culture – Clove’s gender identity, along with their personality and unique gameplay style, is an equally important facet that has helped shape who they are as a Valorant agent,” stated Dan Hardison, Agent Gameplay Designer.

Clove’s Abilities

In addition to their history in Scotland and their gender identity, Clove, agent number 25 in the game, brings a new and interesting mechanic to Valorant, which goes beyond their lifetime in the game.

Yes, Clove can come back to life!

As an immortal, Clove will have the opportunity to come back to life after being eliminated during the match and this new mechanic has everything to change Valorant’s meta.

“Clove’s ideal game mechanic involves playing with fire. You need to take risks and give your own life for the common good, killing opponents to remove enemy utilities and succeed. They are different from other Controllers in that his utilities for execution are weaker than average, but the ability to contribute after death will bring purpose that will have you almost always fighting to the death rather than running away from opponents. Sometimes the best thing to do is to advance with Clove and die, as long as there are exchanges with an ally. Losing a life for the price of an enemy life can be advantageous if that life is exchanged for someone other than your opponent Clove! You have to be willing to die for the team to play Clove”, explained Dan Hardison.

Check out Clove’s skills:

Ruse (E)

Equip to view the battlefield. Fire to set the locations where Clove’s clouds will settle. Alt fire to confirm, launching clouds that block vision in the chosen areas. Clove can use this ability after death.

Meddle (Q)

Equip a fragment of immortality essence. Fire to throw the fragment, which erupts after a shortdelay and temporarily decays all targets caught inside.

Pick-Me-Up (C)

Instantly absorb the life force of a fallen enemy that Clove damaged or killed, gaining haste andtemporary health.

Not Dead Yet (X / ULT)

After dying, activate to resurrect. Once resurrected, Clove must earn a kill or a damaging assist within a set time or they will die.
