Valorant: All about the new progression system

The Episode 7 of Valorant is almost upon us and the new stage for Riot Games‘ FPS will bring several new features to players, including a new progression system, which promises to be more rewarding for the time spent in the game.

This new update arrives in Valorant on June 27th and is the first major update to the progression system since the game launched in 2020.

The new progression system will allow players to unlock old cosmetics and will introduce a new way to unlock Agents, retiring the current Agent Contracts format.

Daily challenges

The first change to Valorant’s progression system will be to Daily Missions, which will now be called Daily Challenges. Challenges now consist of 4 checkpoints, with 4 charges each, for a total of 16 checkpoints per day.

According to Riot Games, each game mode will give different charges and Daily Challenges reset every 24 hours.

In the end, each Checkpoint completed will give the player an additional amount of EXP for the Battle Pass, Event Pass and Agent Recruitment Event, in addition to Kingdom Credits, Valorant’s new in-game currency.

What are Kingdom Credits for?

With Episode 7, Valorant will get a new in-game currency: Kingdom Credits. Totally free, the player will receive Kingdom Credits when playing matches in any mode and as a bonus for winning rounds.

With Kingdom Credits, the player will be able to unlock several cosmetic items, in addition to: agents, agent items and accessories from previous Battle Passes.

The Kingdom Credits limit is 10,000.

With Valorant Episode 7, Agent Contracts, the format for unlocking new playable characters and related cosmetic items, will be retired. New agents and their specific cosmetic items will now be unlocked in four different ways:

  • Agent Recruitment Events: Free Event Passes available the day a new agent is released. Active for 28 days. It works similarly to Agent Contracts. It is still possible to spend Valorant Points to get the new agent automatically.
  • Agent Store: For purchasing previous agents. All in-game currency (Kingdom Credits, Valorant Points and Agent Unlock Tokens) can be used.
  • Agent Gear: Just as the agent unlocking method has been modified, so has equipment. All Agent Contract items are now available and can be unlocked with Kingdom Credits if you already own the Agent in question. Unlocking is done by different tiers, with a total of 10 different tiers for Agent Gear.
  • Accessory Store: With Kingdom Credits, the player will be able to unlock accessories from previous Battle Passes. The list is random and renewed weekly.

It is worth remembering that Episode 7 of Valorant will also bring a new game mode, the highly anticipated Team Deathmatch, in addition to a new Sentinel agent on the first day of the new season.
