Twitch eases eligibility criteria for the Partner Plus program

When Twitch announced the Partner Plus program, offering better revenue sharing with channel subscriptions, a controversy arose: its eligibility criteria were strict and only 2.5% of the platform’s partners qualified for the program.

With constant pressure from competing platforms, such as Kick, which offer better revenue for channels, Twitch had to adapt and announced, this Monday (28), a reformulation of the eligibility criteria for the Partner Plus program.

For those who don’t remember, let’s refresh your memory: the Partner Plus program was announced by Twitch as a way to encourage its streamers to stay on the platform, offering a 70/30 split on subscription revenues (as opposed to the 50/30 split). 50 for the default streamer).

Despite the incentive, the criteria for becoming a Partner Plus streamer were quite strict. To reach this category, the streamer would need to maintain a base of 350 subscribers on their channel for 3 consecutive months.

As a result, only 2.5% of current Twitch partners were eligible for the Partner Plus program.

How will it be from now on

To facilitate entry into the Partner Plus program, Twitch has announced a significant change in the eligibility criteria: now, each entry is worth points, with different values for each Tier of subscription on the platform.

Now, to enter the Partner Plus program, the streamer must reach 350 subscription points, divided as follows:

  • Tier 1: 1 point
  • Tier 2: 2 points
  • Tier 3: 6 points

“We’re updating how we calculate progress toward the Partner Plus program. To recognize deeper support from your community, Tier 1, 2, and 3 subs will earn you 1, 2, and 6 points respectively towards qualifying for the program,” wrote Twitch, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter ).

Amazon’s live streaming platform also stated that, to enter the Partner Plus program, it will still be necessary to maintain 350 points of subscribers on the channel for three consecutive months.

The July and August stats will be updated for the new form of eligibility, so streamers can reach Partner Plus status faster.

The move has been positively viewed by the streamer community, who expect to see greater adoption of Twitch’s Partner Plus program in the coming months.
