Twitch announces Partner Plus program, with new revenue share

The fight between livestreaming platforms just got even fiercer and after much criticism from streamers, Twitch, the current leader in the segment, announced a new affiliate program: Partner Plus.

Currently, Twitch has one of the lowest revenue share for the streamer, taking 50% of all channel subscriptions, and this has been one of the reasons for the exodus of streamers to Kick, one of the competitors of the Amazon platform.

Now, to try to mitigate this departure of creators from its platform, Twitch has announced the Partners Plus program, which will offer 70% share on net subscriptions revenue to streamers who meet the qualification criteria.

And these criteria are not for everyone.

How to qualify for Twitch Partner Plus

The Partner Plus program was announced by Twitch this Thursday (15) and will be launched on October 1, 2023. This delay in starting the new affiliate program has a reason: the qualification criteria.

To qualify for the Partner Plus program, a streamer must have 350 subscriptions to their channel for three consecutive months. Once qualified, the streamer will have the 70/30 quota on their channel subscriptions for the next 12 months, even if in any of those months the amount of subscriptions is less than 350.

Enrollment in the Partner Plus program for qualified streamers is automatic, and the first qualifying channels will have to meet the qualification criteria in the months of July, August and September.

But there is a catch…

As PC Gamer noted, Prime subscriptions, which are included in Amazon Prime, will not be counted towards the 350 subscriptions required for the Partner Plus program and your new revenue share for the streamer.

In addition, there is an income limit on this new revenue share. As reported by Twitch, the 70% revenue share on channel subscriptions for the Partner Plus program is capped at US$100,000 annually. After this limit, the streamer returns to the platform’s normal revenue share, which is 50/50.
