The Rogue Prince of Persia

The Rogue Prince of Persia adapts the modern gameplay of the franchise in a fun way

It’s been a while since there’s been so much news about the Prince of Persia franchise, a game I’m very fond of, and today we’re going to talk about The Rogue Prince of Persia, one of the new games in the series’ comeback.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is more than a game based on Dead Cells

Right from the first few minutes, it’s very likely that players will notice how similar The Rogue Prince of Persia is to Dead Cells, and that’s a good thing, because Dead Cells is a very well-made and extremely entertaining game.

However, after the initial impression, we can see that here we have plenty of personality of our own and unique mechanics, making it a very eye-catching game.

Just as the title says, the game is a Roguelike with a bit of meta-progression, which for those who don’t know the term, is about unlocking new weapons, items or equipment that will make future playthroughs easier, after all, at first glance, the game is somewhat difficult, especially for people new to the genre.

Combat is fast and dynamic, but no less strategic

Something that’s very interesting about the gameplay is that it rewards good positioning and caution to get to each enemy. There’s no point in just pressing the attack button and thinking you’re going to kill everything around you, here the player needs to think carefully about how to approach enemies. Carelessness can cost you the entire run and take you back to the beginning.

With no roll button, here your dodge is all about jumping over enemies and getting on their backs, similar to the first Prince of Persia 3D, Sands of Time. This in itself gives you a learning curve during combat.

In addition to a very entertaining combat gameplay, the biggest news here is the parkour system, allowing our prince to run along walls horizontally or vertically, giving him a lot of freedom to explore, dodge or attack enemies.

In addition to the level design, which, despite being randomly generated, is well crafted, allowing the player to react in different ways to the challenges proposed.

The soundtrack is exciting and, as a whole, the gameplay is fun to stream

The Rogue Prince of Persia has a great soundtrack that fits the biomes and enemies wonderfully well, exciting both the streamer and the audience following the adventure. For a Roguelike game, this is very important, as we’ll be replaying the game a lot until we get a little further each time.

The game is in Early Access, so there isn’t much content yet, which may be something that discourages new players a little, after all there isn’t much content to unlock and so much variation in weapons and equipment, as well as more bosses.

However, it’s a game that I believe could be fun for streamers due to its addictive gameplay.

Tested on the PC version, via Steam, the game is well optimized, running smoothly and with no problems streaming the game.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many translation options for the game yet, which limits its scope.
