The most popular Twitch and YouTube streamers in Q3 2023

Being one of the most popular streamers on a livestream platform can be difficult, but not impossible, and when we talk about Twitch and YouTube, both platforms have new popularity leaders in the 3rd quarter of 2023.

Spanish streamer ibai reaches the top of Twitch

As today’s leading live game streaming platform, being big on Twitch means being big globally. Despite having suffered a drop in its audience in the 3rd quarter of 2023, the Amazon platform now has a new popularity leader: the Spanish streamer ibai.

Between the months of July and September, ibai completely dominated Twitch, in any of the metrics used to measure popularity on the platform (hours watched, peak viewers and average viewers), all thanks to the boxing event LA VELADA DEL AÑO III, which happened on July 1st.

In total, ibai achieved 37.20 million hours watched in the 3rd quarter of 2023, according to data released by the StreamsCharts website, with 60% of that number coming from the LA VELADA DEL AÑO III event.

Second place in the quarter went, once again, to the Brazilian streamer Gaules.

Check out the Top 10:

Vtubers remain strong on YouTube

Just like on Twitch, sports broadcasts also helped YouTube’s audience in the 3rd quarter of 2023. But make no mistake: Vtubers remain strong on the Google platform.

While the most popular YouTube streamer between the months of July and September, in terms of hours watched, was Jonathan Liandi, Vtubers, streamers who use virtual images or animations instead of the camera, stand out with several names among the 10 most popular streamers from YouTube.

In hours watched, Vtubers occupy 3 of the 10 most popular names on YouTube. This number is even higher if we look at Pico de Espectadores, where VTubers make up 5 of the 10 largest.

Vtubers, despite being something not yet widely consumed by a large part of the public, are also starting to gain more space on platforms other than YouTube, such as Twitch, where streamer Ironmouse broke the female record for the channel with the highest number of active subscribers, passing the 172 thousand mark.
