Super Crazy Rhythm Castle

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle: A fun Rhythm adventure with lots of chaos

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle is a Rhythm Adventure game with solo or multiplayer mode for up to 4 players. Developed by Second Impact Games and published by KONAMI. Released on November 14, 2023, for Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

In it, we venture through King Ferdinand’s Crazy Castle, where he will do anything crazy to prevent us from taking his throne. It will put you (and maybe your friends) in many absurd situations that you will need to overcome in different stages, ranging from going through simple rhythm sections while dealing with objects falling on the screen to hinder you to Defeating a giant Eggplant DJ!

A King who just wants to create chaos to stop you

In Super Crazy Rhythm Castle, we have control of one of the four initial characters, with the possibility of unlocking more as you progress through the game. You will follow a campaign mode that consists of several very unique stages, each with its own original way of progressing.

For example, in every stage, you need to perform the Rhythm Minigame, which is similar to several games of the genre, especially Guitar Hero. However, almost all of these stages are accompanied by King Ferdinand, taking advantage of every moment to make your game hell and adding extra conditions, which can be obstacles, puzzles, and the like.

Add this to the fact that the game has a very sarcastic sense of humor, making jokes about various things, from pop culture to jokes with word puns to breaking the Fourth Wall.

In your quest to defeat the King, you will face many different stages, with the game featuring more than 30 songs in its repertoire.

The songs are mostly very pleasant, with some being original and others being original to the game; these originals tend to lean towards a more comedy side.

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle is an incredible game for the Rhythm Genre

The gameplay of Super Crazy Rhythm Castle is very good.

The game gives you the option of two difficulty levels: Regular and Professional. In Regular, you need to press three different buttons, and there aren’t many hard sequences. The Professional switches to four different buttons and has many more sequences that require greater precision. It is an enjoyable game for both beginners and experienced rhythm players.

The game has several unlockable characters as well as songs that unlock as you progress, resulting in better scores in the campaign. Also, because it’s a KONAMI game, there are some songs from its famous series, like the theme song for a certain Vampire Hunter…

Your progression also seems to be well balanced, as the game allows you to progress in both Solo and Coop. If you play Solo, in missions that require other players, you are given an NPC who will carry out the necessary tasks to continue the game normally.

In addition to the campaign mode, you also have access to the Music Laboratory, a place where you can replay all the songs in the game without the puzzle aspect. For those who just want to enjoy them and focus on achieving higher scores.

The only weak point of the game is that when revisiting the Campaign stages, you can’t just skip the conversations. You can “fast forward” them, but not skip. This is annoying in the long run, especially when you want to play them again to try to unlock more content.

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle

A Chaotic Co-op, in the good sense of the word

After everything that has been said so far, we arrive at the strongest point of Super Crazy Rhythm Castle: The Cooperative!

All stages of the game are perfectly created for up to four players to have fun together. It is possible to play Online or in local Co-op or Remote Play. You can even enter and leave the game at any time.

Due to how diverse each stage is, the game becomes a lot of fun as you progress through the campaign, as you never deal with a stage in the same way as another previous one. And because some require certain coordination, there will definitely be moments when players get confused, and this will create many funny moments.

There are stages where King Ferdinand will suddenly swap places with another player, thus changing who is responsible for the rhythm Minigame and who is in charge of doing another task. There will be stages in which one player will try to focus on the minigame to damage the boss while another will try to protect that player from other enemies, and so on.

In addition to the Cooperative Campaign, the game also has a versus battle mode to measure who achieves the highest scores.

It is very good to play on Livestream, but with caveats

For this review, the PC/Steam version was analyzed.
We played with maximum settings, and the game flowed very well throughout the game. It also has many graphic configuration options, so you can configure it according to the Streamer’s needs. Overall, it’s not a high-spec game.

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle is a lot of fun to play on Livestream, especially if you play with friends. It will certainly create several funny moments with the mistakes that will happen. We even tested Steam’s Remote Play, and even though it’s a Rhythm Game, we didn’t have any problems with Input Delay, but be aware that this may vary depending on your Internet Connection.

But a very important warning: The game contains licensed songs. And because it doesn’t have a “Streamer Mode”, it’s up to you to be careful with these songs that contain licensing.

Summary

With fun gameplay and a lot of variety in music and stages, Super Crazy Rhythm Castle impresses with its Cooperative Campaign mode, a great addition to Rhythm games. There are many language options. And it is very good to play on Livestream as long as you are careful with licensed music.
