Steam: The most popular games of 2024 (so far)

As the main gaming platform for PC today (and has been for a long time), Steam concentrates the majority of PC players and, with this, we can understand the consumption of games for this platform.

On Steam, there are a few different ways to analyze the popularity of games on the platform, whether in the maximum number of simultaneous players or in their ratings from curators and users.

In 2024, for example, although some big AAA titles appear among the 10 most popular in the world on Steam, it is really indie games that stand out on the platform, dominating the lists in any of the parameters analyzed.

The data comes from the SteamDB website, which maintains a complete and duly updated information base on game consumption on Steam.

Peak of players

The number of simultaneous players in a game can measure its popularity, right? Yes. But the challenge for developers really lies in keeping these players interested in their games, keeping them active and, most importantly, consuming.

In this metric, the highlight of 2024, so far, is Palworld, which surpassed the mark of 2 million simultaneous players on Steam, more than 4 times what won second place: Helldivers 2.

Despite this, Helldivers currently manages to keep more active players than Palworld.
