Quick Quest shows the beauty of simplicity
It’s been a while since I picked up a game and felt that nostalgia of just seeing the title screen and jumping into the adventure without being bombarded with text, story, tutorials or other modern game stuff. Quick Quest brings us this nostalgia in a game that is simple but really fun to play.
The game lives up to its title
In fact, right from the start, the player is taken to a title screen and is soon in control of our nameless hero, with only his trusty sword and armor.
With only two action buttons at the start, one for Jumping and the other for Attacking, it’s easy to know what to do, isn’t it? Here we can defeat our enemies by jumping on their heads or attacking with our sword. The gameplay is very fluid and easy to control.
Small roguelike elements give it extra charm
There are a few roguelike elements here, such as having only one chance to finish your adventure. For each boss you defeat, you’ll be given three choices of items: new armor, with effects like double jumping or charging up an attack with your sword; a new faster or stronger sword and even sub-items like axes to throw at your enemies. Watch out! These pieces of equipment have a resistance bar and break when our hero takes damage.
These elements serve as an aid to the player and don’t interfere too much with his overall gameplay, making it possible to finish the game with just his initial equipment. For me, these items serve as a reward for the careful player who manages to keep them and rewards them with improvements.
Quick Quest’s charming pixel art is the icing on the cake
As well as bringing nostalgia to the player with its retro, yet refined and non-boring gameplay, Quick Quest also has very charming pixel art along the lines of the 8-bit NES. This adds to the feeling that you’re playing something retro.
All its worlds work with a few color palettes, but they do a great job of demonstrating how creativity is so important when working with limitations.
The same can be said of the character’s armor, even with few pixels, you can see the charisma in each one.
A must play for streamers who like to challenge themselves
This game works very well for streamers, as it’s easy to understand for both the player and the audience. And of course, following your favorite streamer trying to overcome each new challenge in this game is always exciting.
Quick Quest may be short, as the name suggests, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Here we have an adventure that rewards careful players who learn boss patterns, while punishing careless players who try to go all out without worrying about common enemies. An excellent combination of entertainment for a charismatic streamer who will make fun of your deaths, or even stress themselves out.
Tested on Steam, the game runs very well, is very light and is available in a total of 7 languages. Not that it needs much either, after all, there aren’t that many dialogues, but it’s always welcome to have good language options.

In the end, Quick Quest is a beautiful, charming, retro and difficult game that manages to make you want to go again and see how far you can get. I look forward to a possible sequel with more content which, if it manages to maintain the essence of this one, will certainly be another very entertaining game.
