Prison City: A modern adaptation of 8-bit NES era
Have you missed the NES era, where games were much more harder and more characteristic, such as Mega Man and Ninja Gaiden? In those times, while we’re pushing our hands to their limits we also spend lots of fun moments at the same time. A kind of fun that we cannot receive today.
If you’ve missed those days and its games and want to bring this era to your live stream, Prison City will be a good pick for you and whoever wants to play that era’s games in a live stream.
Grab yourself a comfortable controller, you’ll need it
Prison City is a 2D platformer action game. Here, you will be encountering with dangerous enemies that you’ll need to beat and overcome the platforms.
The gameplay is similar to the era of NES games, such as in Mega Man. You can shoot, jump and use special abilities through well designed levels. While your character gets new abilities, you will be also fighting with various challenging bosses too.
I especially tried to mention 80’s gaming era while describing Prison City because you need to understand that it tries to be a modern adaptation of that era and if it’s not your type of game, you need to pick it carefully.
Prison City not only looks like an old school game, but also works like them in terms of gameplay, art and level design. And although it doesn’t recreate the NES era or tries to be the best modern adaptation of this era, the game does its job pretty well and gives us a fun but challenging experience.
Just try to do your best in your live stream and see your audience’s reaction to your gameplay, whether you’re playing good or bad. Viewers always love to see a challenging game being played and a struggling streamer on their screen.
But I still need to say that although Prison City adapts the NES era when the games were harder, it also offers you various difficulties to choose. They probably won’t save you from struggling, but you’ll be much more fine for next gen gaming.
Here comes the 8-bit Cyberpunk theme
Prison City not only brings the old-school game and level design but also the art and sound design with a beautiful atmosphere of a Cyberpunk theme. You can lose yourself in this amazing world of Prison City while experiencing its story.
Speaking of story, Prison City has a story which is packed with nods and homages to classic action movies and games from the 80s and 90s, including iconic one-liners, memorable characters, and familiar gameplay mechanics and it’s definitely worth to listen and fun to follow with its humour sense. I still wouldn’t recommend Prison City for its story though. Prison City mostly focuses on its gameplay.
The most disappointing side of Prison City is that its a short experience. It takes just a few hours to beat it. Of course it’s a hard game and your play time depends on your gameplay, but the content that Prison City offers would not be enough for you.
Performance on the other hand, I’ve tested Prison City’s console port on Xbox Series X and I haven’t see any problem on it. It runs fine and cleared from bugs. You don’t need to worry about its performance, even regarding the console port.
Prison City
Summary
Prison City brings up the old 8-bit NES era games to your live stream in a modern way. Although it’s a short experience, Prison City has a huge potential to create some nostalgic and fun moments with its smooth and challenging gameplay.
