Pathless Woods takes you to a fantastic oriental world, challenging and full of opportunities
Games in the survival genre are becoming more and more popular, with more options and more attention from the gamer public. Something that really struck me when I saw Pathless Woods was that it sells itself as a Cozy Survival, but I didn’t feel that way, as it’s actually quite a challenging game.
Surviving a beautiful and dangerous world
Pathless Woods stands out with a world full of charming characters and vibrant colors, as well as easy-to-learn gameplay. However, after starting the adventure and the introductory period, I began to feel overwhelmed with information. I already have experience with survival games, but here you have so much to manage that it was confusing and made my learning curve difficult.
For example, in addition to managing hunger, thirst and temperature, as is quite common in survival games, there is also a physical strength meter, a sanity meter and a lot of information on the game’s interface, something that, for a cozy proposal, ends up being intimidating.
Broadcasting the game on a live stream, I praised its gameplay, charm and graphics, but I felt so lost trying to learn, and so overwhelmed, that it ended up frustrating me. I only learned to play well afterwards, in a calmer offline session with some online guides.
Pathless Woods has enormous potential with its building mode
Something very striking about Pathless Woods, of course, is its construction mode, which is very broad and full of freedom to modify the map and position the pieces, allowing the experienced player to create bases and even beautiful, functional cities. Its construction mode reminds me a little of the way games like Enshrouded allow the player to build, something very positive for the genre.
With its beautiful and eye-catching aesthetics and colors, Pathless Woods also encourages exploration of its world, which is full of dangers and other characters to interact with or recruit to help you.
Multiplayer mode helps the experience and makes it more fun for spectators
The game has online mode for up to 3 people, allowing for greater ease, survival and ease of construction than playing solo. The game has a total of 8 characters, each with their own quirks and style of play, which can be daunting for a streamer trying to unlock each one and figure out how they work.
However, because it has such a high learning curve, this task can be quite challenging, unless the streamer has played the game before or plays with someone else who already knows the game to teach it and make it easier for viewers to understand.
The game has been received on Steam, and runs well on a machine that meets the necessary requirements. However, the game only has three languages available, which makes it difficult for viewers to learn and follow a game outside their native language.

Overall, Pathless Woods is a fun and challenging game, once you learn how to play, which requires patience and can cause frustration. For a game that sets out to be a cozy survival game, it ends up being controversial. The game is great fun if you like a challenge. If you’re looking for a more relaxing survival game, this isn’t it.
