Oaken: Combination of a mystic world and tactical roguelike gameplay
With the increasing popularity of Teamfight Tactics and those type of strategy games recently, this genre gained even more interest on both gaming market and livestreams. Gamers want to play and watch them like never before.
While considering your area and your enemies, controlling your characters or cards, should I say, make gamers even more interested in either playing or watching. And Oaken tries to be one of those strategy games with its own unique roguelike structured gameplay.
Place your character and do your move carefully
Oaken is a turn based tactical rougelike deck-building game. In Oaken, you have to set up your characters carefully while thinking about your enemies and their placement. Think about your actions consequences, then do your move.
Although I mentioned Teamfight Tactics before, this is not an auto chess game. This game doesn’t play itself. On the contrary, you are the one who is placing your characters and even choosing which side they’re looking at.
Oaken gives you a challenging gameplay yet, if you don’t like having hard times on tactical games, you can always choose a lighter difficulty option. This is an important feature cause the game doesn’t try to be casual, it wants your full concentration.
One of the most pleasing feature in Oaken is the roguelike structured gameplay. Even if you lose a game round, you can start over yes, but you can always change your deck and upgrade them. This adds even more attention to the gameplay of Oaken and keep the audience awakened, cause losing is not always a total loss.
Beautiful world and art design completes the Oaken
Having a fun and tactical gameplay, Oaken is really fun to play and fun to watch. And that’s not it. Oaken consists of a beautiful world and art design. “Looking shiny and mystical”, says the developer, Oaken can collect even more interest.
Although the game has a few chapters to complete, it’s a roguelike game, so you can spend lots of time on Oaken. While finishing its campaign mode is not that easy, trying some new strategies and using new cards would stick you and your audience to the screen long enough to create enjoyable live streams.
I’ve tested Oaken’s PC version on STEAM and I haven’t came across any problems. It works perfectly fine and everything looks smooth.
Oaken
Summary
Oaken is a fun roguelike tactical game which has a challenging but fun gameplay and a beautiful art design to look at. If you and your audience love those type of strategy games, Oaken is definitely worth to try.
