Noobs Want to Live: Humor and charisma with addictive gameplay to entertain for hours
“Noobs Want to Live” enters the hype of the genre created by “Vampire Survivors”, game that arrived sneakily and exploded in success, reaching all kinds of audiences and giving birth to several other games with similar gameplay and among them, we have “Noobs Want to Live”.
But what does this new title bring as an innovation to the genre? Let’s analyze and find out!
Oriental theme and humor are the highlights of Noobs Want to Live
The first thing that caught my attention in this game was its anime/manga thematic and art style with animations similar to “Paper Mario”, where the characters are like pieces of paper. It is a very charismatic style and if done correctly it stands out a lot.
In “Noobs Want to Live” it works very well and is well crafted: both the characters and the enemies are very well done and expressive, with eye-catching colors that look like they came out of a colorful manga book.
The game has a fun theme with its exaggerated characters and powers completely out of the box, like a gas bomb and poop mines, for example. So if you like the comedy style, you will be well served here.
Gameplay doesn’t change much from the original idea, but tries to innovate
In “Noobs Want to Live” you will, as the name of the game suggests, survive waves and waves of enemies that will come, starting slowly and overwhelming you in no time if you are not strong enough to deal with them.
Each character has a unique starting attack and ability, and during the gameplay, defeated enemies will drop silver crowns and gold crowns, as well as experience for characters to level up and improve their attributes such as Life, Speed, Attack, and others.
And here comes a difference that “Noobs Want to Live” brings us: you use the crowns to buy skills in their respective designated slots. Each character has six and when buying a skill, you are offered four options and the option also to discard the current ones and receive new options by paying with the gold crowns, helping the RNG manipulation.
Clicking again on the purchased skill slot will give you another four new options of higher rarity to evolve the current weapon, allowing plenty of flexibility in your arsenal.
Also, if two specific skills are selected, they will combine into another, much more powerful skill. One of the amusements of the game will be to discover these combinations.
The game doesn’t teach you much, it just throws you into the world and expects you to learn, so for beginners it can be a bit confusing, for veterans, however, it will be easy to learn how to play.
Games like this are very welcome for a live stream
Tested the PC version on Steam, the game ran smoothly around here and is pretty light enough to run on just about any machine.
It is no secret that since “Vampire Survivor” exploded on the internet, this genre fits perfectly for a live stream, after all, although it starts weak, over time you create combinations so absurd that you practically become the boss of the game and go out destroying everything and this is very satisfying for both the player and the viewer.
In addition to the challenges to complete, characters and costumes to unlock are an excellent incentive to keep the game going for hours and hours. After all, by the end of the game you will be so powerful that it will be easier to talk to your audience.
However, the game is only available in three languages, which doesn’t make it very accessible to the general public. If you don’t have much knowledge of English, it is still possible to enjoy the game, but it will be a little difficult at first to understand how to play.
And the game is not 100% translated into English. The story scenes of the characters are not translated and some parts of the menu too. It’s something I hope the developers can fix, although it doesn’t influence the gameplay so much, it’s still important that the game is the best translated as possible, after all it’s not an early access title.
Noobs Want to Live
Summary
In summary, Noobs Want to Live is a great game for the genre and very charismatic, however it still needs some polishing in its translation and a little more information for beginning players who are not used to many video games or its gameplay.
