Night of the Dead is an open-world game for single or multiplayer players, combining exploration, zombie combat, construction and survival.

Explore during the day and protect yourself during the night

At the start of the game, you’ll be asked to create your character, or use the one already available. You’ll then be able to choose a profession and various bonuses and penalties.

In this game, there are 2 phases. First, there’s the daytime. You’ll need to take advantage of this to gather resources, build objects such as traps, or improve your various workbenches to enable you to create more items.

The day is quite long, and we’ll also need to use this time to explore the world around us, but beware: there will be zombies in the houses and in the open world in general.

The second phase is night. In this phase, hordes of zombies will attack us. You’ll need to survive using various weapons, traps built during the day and the AI-controlled character accompanying you.

You need to be very vigilant, as the traps need to be repaired and rearmed, so they must be accessible, otherwise they will become useless after a while.

As for the zombies, they come in a variety of morphologies and skills. For example, there are those who run fast, those who are more resistant and those who spit poison.

The AI in Night of the Dead

Let’s talk about the character who follows us. As mentioned, he’s controlled by artificial intelligence and will have several uses. Firstly, he can be given equipment, he can collect certain resources and, finally, he can help us fight the zombies.

Like you, he’ll earn levels by performing various actions. These levels will unlock different resources for him to collect. At first, he can only collect debris from the ground, but later he’ll be able to harvest shrubs, for example.

From a streamer point of view, your community can help you in many different ways. They can help you develop multiple strategies for making traps, placing traps and setting up your base. They can also join your game to help you directly in the game. They can collect resources, lay traps for you or fight alongside you in the night hordes.

The good thing is that even if you’re playing with several players, there’s one AI-controlled character per player, which is a big help.

You can customize the game as you wish, not only by increasing or lowering the difficulty, but also by enabling or disabling certain options.

Be careful, though, as there’s a considerable amount of resource gathering to be done, despite the help of the character accompanying you.

The other negative point is that if you’re playing with more than one player, each player will have to complete the tutorial, as quests are not currently shared and, unfortunately, you can’t skip the tutorial.
