Knights of the Road: Old School 8-bit Adventures are Back!
Have you ever tried the old school looking games like Shovel Knight? Such games tries to bring back the experience of 8-bit era. They might be fun but also hard as they can be. Knights of the Road is another entry into old school platforming games that comes with the level of difficulty of that period of games. Let’s talk about how it is enjoyable and suitable for live streams.
Don’t forget to take your NES and shield in Knights of the Road
Knights of the Road is a 2D platforming game. You will be overcoming obstacles and enemies while using your shield. Gameplay mostly remind us Shovel Knight with the using of the shield which you are using it for jumping through enemies and traps. Also levels and controls are just like the games back in the NES era.
While Knights of the Road works like a charm for who loves the old school gaming, I also need to state that it’s not an easy game. Although ,for still being a modern game, Knights of the Road has checkpoints which normally old games would never had, level design is still programmed to kill you.
So yes, gameplay is fun and feels just like the old times and perfect for who wants to bring that experience to the live streams. As it will be an hard challenge, audience will also having a great time while you suffer.
But if you don’t like the old school gaming and hard games, Knights of the Road will probably won’t satisfy you. There are lots of modern games which are NES themed. There is a ”god mode” option for who can’t beat the game of course but if you play like that, I’m not sure you can fully enjoy like that.
Set an Adventure in The Kingdom of Rockwall
Knights of the Road has a story and cinematics for those who wonder but I need to say that this is not a type of game which you want to follow it for its story or storytelling. As you know, most of the old games wouldn’t even had stories.
But I’d still appreciate the theme, art and sound design. Knights of the Road looks just like the old games which we miss. Game also has a official CRT effect option which makes it more suitable for the aimed era.
About replayability, Knights of the Road is not a game you would be wanting to play again and again and would probably take 4 to 5 hours to beat if you don’t get stuck. But there’s also a possibility that you would stuck some of the levels and play specific areas for hours. So it may offer you higher play time than you expected.
I’ve played Knights of the Road’s PC version on STEAM and didn’t come across any bugs or crashes. Game runs perfectly fine so I don’t think it’ll cause you a problem.

Knights of the Road is perfect for those who missed 8-bit gaming as it not only offers fun gameplay but also that era’s difficulty. Maybe it’s not for those who are not fan of NES era but if you are one, then don’t miss it.
