Kingdom Shell is an atmospheric 2D metroidvania platformer game. You can understand from this definition that you can expect an experience similar to Hollow Knight or Dead Cells. Do I also need to say Castlevania and Metroid?

Basic mechanics of Kingdom Shell’s, such as moving your character and combat, feel smooth and create a fun to watch gameplay.

Kingdom Shell even describes itself as a souls-like game, because of its difficulty. Even normal difficulty is not that easy to beat.

The difficulty of the game can be, actually, a positive factor for your live streams, because your audience would love to see you beating or struggling during a boss fight. But if you have a problem with Kingdom Shell’s difficulty, you can always change it whenever you want.

But be aware: if you decrease difficulty, you can lose Kingdom Shell’s tempo, because although the gameplay is fun and smooth, it can be a little bit boring time to time even with new abilities. Looks like the one of the most important element in Kingdom Shell is difficulty, so try to embrace it.

Although Kingdom Shell has some issues in its gameplay, the art design makes it even more pleasant to look at it. Effects, characters and places look amazing and well animated.

And you will also experience a dialogue based story which is quite fun to listen for an indie metroidvania, but don’t expect a cinematic masterpiece experience from Kingdom Shell.

Kingdom Shell offers you quite a long gameplay compared to the content it has. Of course, as it is a hard game, it still depends on your gameplay, but the main story minimum provides you 5-6 hours gameplay and I can say that’s enough for Kingdom Shell. And once you have finished the game, you probably won’t want to play it again.

I’ve tested kingdom Shell’s PC version on STEAM and I haven’t bump into any problems except for some FPS drops. You don’t have to worry about Kingdom Shell’s performance. It runs perfectly fine.
