KAKU: Ancient Seal Released with Enhanced, Polished Look
KAKU: Ancient Seal is an action-adventure game where players explore a mythical world, solve puzzles, and combat enemies to unlock the power of an ancient seal and restore balance. A while ago I covered the game in its early access version, and now the game is finally in its 1.0 version, that’s what we’re going to talk about today!
How did Kaku fare after feedback from its players and does the developers’ final vision really appeal as much as expected? Let’s find out in this review.
KAKU: Ancient Seal, An Inspired but Unique Game
Kaku: Ancient Seal takes a lot of inspiration from other games, Zelda is a good example, but it’s only taking inspiration so there’s plenty of room here for the game to be original and not a copy, while maintaining a simple, very functional gameplay and fun combat.
Its skill tree remains in the same style as its Early Access version, which I personally think is a good thing, as it doesn’t overwhelm the player with too much information or choice. It allows new combos and skills to be unleashed, making the player feel rewarded with each new level up.
Art Evolved to be Eye-Catching for Livestreams
As previously mentioned, Kaku: Ancient Seal is very eye-catching in its gameplay, however, its art direction, which was already beautiful in its Early Access state, now has a very welcome redesign of its characters and more polish in its settings. This makes your adventure much more interesting for those who follow the game on a live stream, especially as each Biome is unique and has its own specific characters who will help you during your adventure.
The game still has plenty of languages available, thus increasing its accessibility and allowing it to be better enjoyed by streamers. Including my native language, Brazilian Portuguese, which has had its translation improved and corrected since early access.
KAKU: Ancient Seal, Repetitive Yet Still Immersive
Kaku: Ancient Seal follows a pattern of exploring the New Biome, facing enemies, doing a few side quests to help a companion in the area and unlocking new weapons/armor and skills. It’s a little repetitive, but it doesn’t spoil the experience. It always gives the player some reward for their efforts and stimulates interest in finishing the challenge.
The game’s performance is still great, it runs very smoothly, which has been a positive surprise for me since its early access. However, it’s still a bit heavy and you need a powerful machine for the game to run smoothly, especially during a stream.
