It’s official: Kai Cenat breaks all-time record for subscribers on Twitch

Twitch has a new King of Subscribers: Kai Cenat broke the all-time record for subscribers on Amazon’s live streaming platform this Tuesday, February 28th.

During his Subathon, the marathon to gain more subscribers for his Twitch channel, which started on February 1st, Kai Cenat achieved his goal, which was to set a new record for subscribers on the platform, passing the mark of 300,000 subscribers in his channel.

The number surpasses the previous record, conquered by Ludwig, now a YouTube Gaming streamer. As of 2021, Ludwig has gained 283,066 subscribers to his Twitch channel.

“This has been the hardest thing of my life and I’m glad I did it. We did it. Whatever you want to do, you can do it,” said Kai Cenat during his live stream.

Twitch itself also reacted to Kai Cenat’s new record. On its official Twitter, Amazon’s live streaming platform celebrated the streamer’s achievement and wrote: “The new king of Twitch.”

For Bloomberg, Laura Lee, the Head of Content at Twitch, said:

“Thrilling to see Kai and his community make waves and be seen. We are excited to see what they create together next.”

In the United States and in many parts of the world, February is Black History Month and nothing fairer for Kai Cenat than making history in this important period for the country’s African-American community.

After becoming the first African-American streamer to pass the 200,000 subscriber mark on a Twitch channel, Kai now extends that record, passing the 300,000 subscriber mark and setting new benchmarks not just for African-American content creators, but also for the general scenario of this industry.
