Is Kick already dead? Spanish streamer IlloJuan comments on the platform

With a lot of investment money and a promise of better revenue sharing for streamers, Kick arrived as a true revolution for the live streaming market. But it seems that not everyone sees the platform like that. Is Kick already dead?

If it depends on the Spanish streamer IlloJuan, the answer is a big yes.

Kick needs time to solidify

In a recent live broadcast, IlloJuan commented on Kick and stated that, for him, the platform is already dead.

Despite promises of better conditions for streamers and all the money coming from the online casino platform Stake, which runs Kick, there is still time for the new live streaming platform to solidify itself as a true competitor to Twitch.

For IlloJuan, although Kick’s numbers were surprising in the first few months, in the end “nothing happened”, and the new platform needs time to really position itself as a competitor to Twitch, which took years to build the solid community it has today.

Connection with a betting website can drive away streamers

IlloJuan’s statement resonates with a large part of the streamer community and its audience, as not everyone sees Kick as a viable alternative to Twitch, mainly because of its connection with the betting site.

While streamers like xQc and Amouranth join Kick with million-dollar contracts, other big names in the community, like ibai and AuronPlay, end their contracts with Twitch but don’t think about migrating to the new platform and see YouTube as the appropriate alternative for future of their streaming careers.

Recently, the subject of betting on Kick became controversial again after a statement from xQc, who said that he is contractually obliged to carry out live broadcasts with betting games on the Stake.com website.

xQc’s spending history on Stake.com is even scary. According to the website itself, the streamer has already spent more than 2.6 billion dollars on bets. It is worth remembering that your contract with Kick is worth 100 million dollars for two years on the platform.
