Hitman: World of Assassination

Hitman: World of Assassination – lots of fun with all Hitman games

“Hitman III” was released on January 21, 2021. It was developed and published by IO Interactive and it’s a Stealth game in which you control Agent 47 and are tasked with killing targets on different maps, following objectives stipulated by your contractors.

Now, IO Interactive renamed it “Hitman: World of Assassination” and made several changes with a massive update on January 26, 2023.

It has now a more intuitive home menu that gives easy access to all content, quality of life additions to many missions, the option to access all Hitman I and II content, as well as the long-awaited new Freelancer mode.

More complete and with new challenges

“Hitman: World of Assassination” is the new name given to “Hitman III”, now with the possibility to access all the missions of Hitman I and II, thus releasing the possibility to play three complete campaigns, one after the other.

If you’re new to the Hitman series, “World of Assassination” will give you the full Hitman experience, as well as the possibility to play all stages with the most recent updates. These updates include a revamp of the game’s HUD, improved artificial intelligence, and bug fixes.

If you’ve previously purchased Hitman I and II, you’ll have access to them through “World of Assassination” as well, so you don’t need to buy them again.

“World of Assassination” has content for new and returning players. New players can access all titles in the series, while returning players can access the new Roguelike mode, “Freelancer”, an update designed as an advanced game challenge.

When you play any of the three campaigns, you are tasked with completing a variety of tasks, such as assassinating the leader of a slave organization or destroying a terrible virus and apprehending everyone responsible for its creation. What sets Hitman apart from other Stealth games is its incredible creative freedom for the ways in which you can accomplish these goals.

You can lure a target away from the public by pretending to be someone you trust, as well as execute him in front of an audience during a speech or even throw someone else on top of him when he’s walking back to his car. (This other person is also one of your targets.)

Each of the Maps allows a huge freedom of exploration; there are simply many ways that you can deal with your missions, and this allows the game to have enormous longevity as it makes it possible to revisit all stages several times to try new ways of solving the goals. The game even rewards you with new equipment and XP for every new type of murder you discover.

The new mode “Freelancer”

For experienced Hitman players, there is the new “Freelancer” update, a Roguelike mode, which brings a new layer of challenges to the game.

In “Freelancer”, you accept randomly generated missions with a limited arsenal (and you can lose them with each defeat) and without being able to save until you complete them all.

By playing this mode, you gain access to a Safehouse where you choose between eight Syndicates to start a campaign. Each campaign will come with random objectives that, when completed, will reward you with “merces”, the currency you’ll use during your missions to be able to buy supplies during them.

Completing campaigns can reward you with improvements to your Safehouse, being able to increase the capacity of items with which you start new missions, beautify your Safehouse or even gain access to new clothes, allowing you to start missions in any disguise you want.

“Freelancer” mode is tough, and you’ll often need to be prepared for frustration, as you’ll also need a bit of luck. There will be times when you’re having a great Run and suddenly your next spawn point is in the middle of a base of enemies, thus making it very difficult to stay hidden.

“Hitman: World of Assassination” – An incredibly easy game to please the audience

The game has a very variable duration; if you want to play all the campaigns, each of the three Hitman games has an average of 10 hours of duration. If you include the Freelancer Campaign, you can easily add a few more hours of entertainment.

But Hitman’s strongest point is its various ways of carrying out its murders, and this opens up many funny and creative possibilities. Often, your audience will be amused by many of the creative ways you can accomplish your goals in the game. For example, I once performed a kill by throwing a wrench at my target, and he passed out and fell into the river. It was unexpected and very funny, as this was not what I had planned.

Not only your successes but also your failures are funny. There were many times when I was caught red-handed trying to hide a body, like the time I threw a body down the slope, but little did I know that there was a camera right below me.

The game also has different outfits, but nothing beats carrying out your missions dressed in the classic clown outfit.

Perhaps one of the only flaws is the lack of several languages in the game, including Brazilian Portuguese. Unfortunately, not even the texts were in Portuguese. So, I needed to translate every story moment to entertain my audience.

Summary

“Hitman: World of Assassination” brings some new features, including the possibility to play all three Hitman games missions, new updates with quality of life improvements, bug fixes, AI improvements, and the new Roguelike Freelancer mode, which adds a new challenge for those who wanted more content.
It’s a very fun game to play on live stream, and it can generate a lot of laughs depending on your creativity, even with the lack of Brazilian Portuguese as a language option.
