Gone Rogue: Like a shadow in search of a fairer society
Stealing is wrong, right? Yes. But in “Gone Rogue”, you’re like a modern-day Robin Hood, stealing from the rich to give to the poor in a fight for a fairer society.
With a “stealth” style gameplay, where the player has to be like a shadow and remain undetected while completing the missions, “Gone Rogue” also features a narrative with various elements of sociopolitical issues that can make you reflect.
Gameplay and performance
“Stealth” style games may not be for everyone (I have a hard time with them myself), but make no mistake: the tension of remaining undetected during missions can be the key to great interaction with your audience.
Strategy, focus, skill and, above all, patience are essential for the success of the missions.
In terms of performance, “Gone Rogue” runs well on PC, even during a livestream. There are a few stutters during stages loading moments, but it’s nothing that disrupts the game as a whole.
Don’t run away from the plot
In the plot of “Gone Rogue”, the player is a kind of avenger, who acts as a shadow to recover what was stolen from him and society in general, in a devastated post-war world, and return freedom to the people living under a dictatorial state.
And make no mistake: sociopolitical issues can be easily plucked from this narrative.
These questions are present throughout the plot and in several of the game’s dialogues, so don’t be scared by them. Allowing yourself to explore the debate on several of the points raised in the game can also be a positive point for engaging with your audience. But of course, we recommend caution to avoid confusion.
Can Gone Rogue be exhausting?
With all that said, the question remains: can “Gone Rogue” be exhausting? Well, for those who like “stealth” style games, it is a true paradise. For those who don’t like it so much, its somewhat repetitive gameplay can end up making the game a little overwhelming to reach the end, even though it is not necessarily very long.
There are tactical RPG elements in the game, which can be the differential for players who don’t enjoy stealth so much.
Items and skills also help with gameplay variety and can help keep the game from becoming boring and repetitive.
Gone Rogue
Summary
Even as a short game and, at times, repetitive in its gameplay, Gone Rogue brings an interesting plot in a game where the focus is on being undetectable. It may not necessarily be a title for all players, but anyone who likes the “stealth” style will find Gone Rogue a true paradise.
