Ghostwire: Tokyo dives into a mysterious story and atmosphere
Tango Gameworks, a Japanese game development company founded by Shinji Mikami has in its catalog the franchise The Evil Within and the surprising Hi-Fi Rush (text about the game available here on Gamohol) and also developed Ghostwire: Tokyo, temporarily exclusive on consoles for Playstation 5 and which recently arrived on Game Pass.
The mysterious atmosphere of Ghostwire: Tokyo
The game has a setting and story based on Japanese urban legends and the encounter of the supernatural in the middle of one of the great Asian metropolis. In terms of gameplay, it is a first-person action that mixes magic and needs to leave enemies vulnerable to be able to shoot them down completely.
As a recent game and an impact release, it may interest those who are looking for an action game from the same creator of classic franchises and one of the great creators of the industry, being this one a great game for live streams.
The curiosity in following the story, due to the mystery, can also attract the audience. Even though the story is not surprising, it is well executed and brings the union between Akito, an ordinary citizen, and a spiritual detective named KK, who when he possesses his body helps him with supernatural powers.
All is not perfect…
The big problem with the game is with regard to its repetition of exploration, since the game is a semi-open world game, where you can explore an abandoned and desolate city, fight with enemies and interact with other characters, mainly spirits and abandoned animals, like cats and dogs. By helping these characters, you earn rewards and improve your character to prepare for the clashes that will come in the future.
The big problem, in this case, are the side-quests, which are mostly repetitive in structure and do not add much to the game, even for those who want to do all the achievements of the game.
Despite being an action game, its mysterious theme and the macabre enemies, spirits that face you along the journey, make exploration a bit tense at times. Visually, the game is well-driven but may not be well explored by any streamer who wants to play it because of the high graphics requirements, despite this it has many settings to explore.
Ghostwire: Tokyo is playable with Xbox Game Pass.

Summary
With well-executed combat, although repetitive, the game attracts by the visuals, simple story but well conducted by the mysteries and execution of Shinji Mikami, one of the great game designers in the industry, attracting an interesting audience to streams. Although it is not an extremely exceptional adventure, for those who do not have a new generation console, the fact that it has been available on Game Pass for a short time may be the opportunity to try this game that was one of the great releases of last year.
I have 25 years, I produce content to internet for 4 years and I like retro games, indies and I’m an enthusiast for new launches. I have as my favorite games Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Mario World, Hollow Knight and Red Dead Redemption II, per example. I like to experiment everything and the more, the better, but I never get sick of my comfort games!
