Kick

Get to know Kick, Twitch’s new competitor streaming service

As today’s leading live streaming platform, everyone wants a slice of Twitch‘s audience, and new competing services keep popping up every year. This is the case with Kick, a new live streaming platform that promises better conditions for creators, especially for the most controversial ones.

Kick.com was officially announced in December 2022, by controversial streamer Trainwreckstv, who serves as an advisor for the new platform.

The service was announced with the promise of better revenue sharing for streamers, as well as a more lenient community policy than Twitch, with fewer possibilities for bans. And that includes the controversies surrounding Casino-style sites and games, allowed on Kick and prohibited on Twitch.

With big names from the international streamer scene already on its platform, such as Trainwreckstv itself, in addition to Adin Ross, who has already confirmed his move to Kick, other big streamers such as Kai Cenat, iShowSpeed and xQc may also make this change soon.

The Kick Creators Program

Trainwreckstv itself was responsible for publicizing the Kick Creators Program, which promises a monthly income for all creators, regardless of their popularity and audience on the platform.

According to the streamer, creators on Kick will not only be paid for the number of subscribers or for showing ads, they will also be paid for the hours they spend live streaming.

The Kick Creators Program payment system will be based on:

  • Live streaming hours
  • Ad CPMs
  • Average viewers
  • Viewer Engagement

It is worth remembering that on Kick, all streamers will have the subscribe button on their channels, without the need to meet some platform requirements, as Twitch, Facebook and YouTube do.

The division of subscription billing on the new platform is another positive point for the creator, being 95% for the streamer and 5% for Kick. The number is far higher than Twitch’s currently controversial 50/50 system.

Kick will also offer a “tipping” system for creators’ channels. In this mode, 100% of revenue goes to the streamer.

The catch?

The catch of the new platform may be at the time of payment. According to Trainwreckstv, Kick will offer two forms of payment for creators: monthly and daily.

To withdraw monthly billing, you will need to use the Stripe payment platform. As for withdrawing money daily, the system will only offer payments via Bitcoin or Ethereum. Yes, if the streamer opts for daily payment, he will receive his money in cryptocurrencies.

For many, this can be something that puts them off the platform, for others, this can really be their differentiator.

Under development

In its announcement, Trainwreckstv stated that Kick is still a developing platform and that at least one year is needed for it to consolidate itself in the market.

The streamer also revealed that Kick is not an exclusive platform and that creators can live stream simultaneously on other platforms.

Recently, it was also announced that Kick’s mobile app will be released on March 3rd and that support for direct live streaming from consoles is also in development.
