Gaming content on YouTube had over 2 trillion views in 2022
The gaming business is always huge and continues to grow, whether in development, commerce or even content consumption. And here comes YouTube. The biggest video platform on the planet had more than 2 trillion views on gamer content in 2022.
The information was disclosed by the CEO of YouTube, Neal Mohan, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
The impressive number of views of gaming content on YouTube, one of the most popular content on the platform, comes with other great results. Still according to Neal Mohan, gaming content on YouTube attracted an average of 500 million users per day, generating 120 billion hours watched in 2022.
“To me, all of those things just speak to how important gaming content is to YouTube, how integral games are to the culture. I find it both fascinating and exciting and just an honor to be a part of it,” said Neal Mohan.
According to Neal, gaming content on Google’s video platform goes beyond traditional VODs and also includes Shorts, one of the platform’s current priorities, and live broadcasts from content creators or eSports championships.
YouTube’s creator revenue
The revenue for content creators is always a controversial and delicate subject. With the recent changes to Twitch, YouTube is also starting to become a more interesting place for gaming streamers.
And regarding revenue on the platform, the CEO of YouTube guaranteed that he always seeks a balance for the platform and the creator.
Still in his interview for The Hollywood Reporter, Neal Mohan stated that any change is always a result of long conversations and negotiations, implementing what makes the most sense for the market and for the individuals inserted in this industry.
