Fortnite: All about mud, the game’s new biome
Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 is already among us and if you are already enjoying this new stage of Epic Games’ battle royale, which was released on June 9th, you must have already experienced a little of the game’s new biome: the mud.
If you still don’t quite understand this new feature of the game, which goes far beyond the visuals, we’re here to explain everything about mud, a new biome introduced in the current season of Fortnite, which comes with its own mechanics.
Where to find the mud?
First, we bring the simplest question: where to find mud in Fortnite? The answer is simple: the game’s new biome is present in the jungles around the Rumble Ruins, Creeky Compound and Shady Stilts.
To take advantage of the mud mechanic, just walk or slide through it and your character will automatically be covered in mud. The mud stays with the character for 30 seconds or if the player passes through water, whether river, lakes or puddles.
The benefits of mud
As reported by Fortnite, mud offers mobility and camouflage benefits in Season 3 of Chapter 4 of the game.
When passing through mud, whether running or sliding, the player automatically gains camouflage benefits against weapons with thermal scopes. Covered in mud, the character’s body heat is not captured by the thermal sights of enemy weapons, giving an advantage, even if temporary, in battle.
The mud also helps with the movement of the characters during the game. Once covered in mud, the player slides faster on slopes.
In addition, mud also helps the player to protect themselves from Wildwasps, another new feature of the season.
The Jungle-themed Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 is available in-game until August 25th.
