Anna Donlon produtora executiva Valorant

For Anna Donlon, executive producer of “Valorant”, the streamer community helped in the game’s success

When “Valorant” was released in 2020, the world was immersed in a period of uncertainty, in the first and darkest months of the COVID-19 pandemic, with everyone at home, looking for new forms of entertainment.

It was a period of great growth for the game streamers community and, for Anna Donlon, executive producer of “Valorant”, it was the streamers that helped in the success of the FPS by Riot Games.

In a conversation with the press before the start of VCT23 LOCK//IN, which kicks off the competitive season of “Valorant” in 2023 and takes place in São Paulo until March 4, Anna Donlon recalled the launch period of Riot Games’ FPS and reaffirmed the importance of the streamer community to the game’s success.

“Our streamer community, all of our content creators who play ‘Valorant,’ they are all very important to us,” said Anna. “I mean, I think they’re the best way for us to deliver our message to all of our players. Like, we can make a lot of really cool videos and everything else ourselves, and we do that, but I think the voices of our community explaining to players why they should play this game, why they have to try a new agent, try a new map and all that… I think those voices are much more powerful for the community”, concluded the executive producer.

For “Valorant,” the streamer community is part of the team

With almost 3 years since the release of the game, the community of “Valorant” streamers continues to grow and Anna Donlon knows the importance of including these content creators in the workflow of the game.

Asked how she includes streamers and content creators in new content releases for “Valorant”, Anna said:

“We definitely think of them [community of streamers and content creators]. We look for opportunities to give them early access to content so they can prepare and when we’re ready to talk about it, they’re ready to talk about it.

And I think we see them as part of our development team and our publishing team, like, they feel connected. And then there are these new content creators that are popping up all the time, so that’s another exciting thing.

We have a lot of people that we know and they have great audiences. But we also have people who are trying to grow their audiences and we want to think about how we can give them big opportunities as well.

We absolutely see them as a big part of why ‘Valorant’ is successful. So yes, we want to treat them well.”
