Diablo IV debuts as Twitch’s most viewed game in June
As one of the most anticipated games of the year, Diablo IV showed all its popularity by debuting on Twitch as the most watched game in June, the month of its official launch.
Launched on June 5th, Diablo IV surpassed other very popular titles on Twitch, such as League of Legends, GTA V and Valorant, by a large margin of difference and ended June with 156.24 million hours watched, according to data from the site StreamCharts.
Second place League of Legends was over 50 million hours behind, totaling 94.41 million hours watched in the sixth month of 2023.
The game even surpassed another major release in June: Street Fighter 6. The newest title in Capcom’s fighting game franchise ended June as the 10th most watched on Twitch, with a total of 34.69 million hours watched.
Streamers made Diablo IV successful on Twitch
The huge success of Diablo IV in its debut month on Twitch, of course, was only possible thanks to streamers. The community has been very involved with the game, and Twitch big names like Asmongold and Shroud have devoted most of their live streams to the Blizzard game.
To get an idea, Asmongold was away from streaming for six months and returned to live broadcasts to celebrate the launch of the new game in the Blizzard franchise, achieving a peak of 92,000 viewers and an average of 57,000.
Compared to other popular recent releases, Diablo IV is second only to Elden Ring in hours watched on Twitch in its first month on the platform.
In 2022, when it launched, Elden Ring garnered 177.43 million hours watched in its first 30 days.
Diablo IV is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
