Dead by Daylight announces collaboration with Dungeons & Dragons
The celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons have begun and Dead by Daylight has announced that it will also be part of this celebration, bringing a collaboration with the most famous RPG system in the world for its asymmetrical multiplayer game.
During Dead by Daylight’s 8th anniversary livestream, the developers of the popular game announced new features coming soon, including a collaboration with Dungeons & Dragons, which will bring a new killer to the game, as well as two new survivors and a new map.
Bringing the Dungeons & Dragons universe to the game, the new killer announced is the popular villain from the RPG universe: Vecna, who arrives in the Fog (as the DbD universe is called) of his own free will, after all, he sees this place as a new world to conquer.
In addition to Vecna, two new survivors were also announced: two Bards, one human and one elf. The new map will also be based on Dungeons & Dragons and is called Forgotten Ruins.
Vecna’s abilities in Dead by Daylight
Introduced in Dungeons & Dragons in 1976, Vecna ​​is an ancient being who everyone believed was destroyed, leaving behind the coveted Hand and Eye of Vecna ​​items. He is also described as the God of Secrets in the world of Greyhawk.
He is a lich, an undead creature that can defy death and uses powerful magic and spells.
Vecna’s abilities in DbD will be based on her original story, which differs slightly from what was presented in the “Stranger Things” series.
Here they are:
Fly
Grants Vecna flying speed for a short time, letting him pass over obstacles in his path.
Flight of the Damned
Conjures flying spectral entities that pass-through obstacles and cause harm to all they hit.
Mage Hand
It creates a ghastly, phantasmic hand that completes tasks such as holding and blocking the use of Pallets.
Dispelling Sphere
Dispelling Sphere creates a moving AOE sphere that reveals Survivors and disables their Magical Items.
The abilities of the Bards, the new survivors
The Bards, new survivors of Dead by Daylight in collaboration with Dungeons & Dragons, will also come with new skills for the game.
Here they are:
Mirrored Illusion
It creates a direct copy of your Survivor in front of a Chest, Generator, Exit Gate, or Totem for a short period of time. TIt is an illusion and it can trick Vecna ​​into chasing the wrong Survivor.
Bardic Inspiration
With Bardic Inspirtion you get to inspire other players, and it will grants bonuses. After using this perk, you will need to roll a d20 and depending on the result, the other Survivors will receive a Skill Check bonus.
Still Sight
When you stand still for a while, you can see the Auras of all nearby Generators, Chests, and Totems.
The dice will decide your fate
Taking a lot of inspiration from Dungeons & Dragons, Dead by Daylight will introduce a new way of interacting with map chests. Every time Vecna ​​is the killer of the match, to open a chest you will need to roll a d20. And the result will decide your fate.
- 2 or 3: a common Dead by Daylight item
- 4 to 19: a magical item, in the form of Boots or Gauntlet, that will give specific abilities to counter Vecna’s abilities
- 20
- Eye of Vecna ​​- allows you to become invisible for a period of time after leaving a closet
- Hand of Vecna ​​- allows you to teleport between lockers
- Using both items causes the survivor to lose health status
- 1: Critical Failure (an unpleasant surprise awaits you)
