Banned from Twitch, IShowSpeed is the biggest YouTube streamer in 2022
With its live gaming content on the rise, YouTube has become one of the top platforms of choice for Twitch outsiders. Proof of this is IShowSpeed, which, even banned from Twitch, became the most watched streamer on YouTube in 2022.
In late 2021, Darren Watkins, real name of IShowSpeed, was kicked off Twitch for “sexual coercion, intimidation and sexual harassment”.
The streamer was also banned from all Riot Games games, including “Valorant”, for misogynistic comments. IShowSpeed also engaged in racist remarks towards a Chinese spectator of the 2022 World Cup.
Even with all this, IShowSpeed appears as the biggest streamer on YouTube in 2022, achieving a total of 38.5 million hours watched, more than 10 million more than second place, VTuber (streamers that use animated models in their lives, to not show their faces on camera) Kuzuha Chan.
VTubers even saw impressive growth on YouTube in 2022, with three of them appearing in the Top 10.
The data is from the Stream Hatchet website and has only compiled content displayed within YouTube Gaming.
Dr DisRespect is also strong on YouTube
Another famous banned Twitch streamer also appeared strong on YouTube’s top of the year list: Dr DisRespect.
Herschel Beahm, real name of Dr DisRespect, was permanently kicked off Twitch in 2020 for unknown reasons and appears in the Top 10 Greatest YouTube Streamers in 2022 at #4 with a total of 25.2 million hours watched.
