Akimbot: A Simple Ratchet & Clank-Like?
Akimbot puts you in the shoes of the robot, Exe, and his unofficial companion, Shipset, who meet on a prison convoy – yes, they’re both thugs if I do say so myself – and together they manage to escape, at least with the help of shipset, the drone.
From there, they’ll find themselves unwillingly embroiled in a political affair in which they’ll have to get rid of Evilware, a robot octopus in search of an artifact brimming with power.
Akimbot is an Inspired Work of Art
Like its counterpart Ratchet & Clank, Akimbot is set in a vibrant, 3D universe that blends action with platforming. You’ll have access to a selection of weapons—perhaps less extensive, but still interesting.
Note that the two titles are not in the same category, one being a triple A game and the other, an independent game.
The Colorful Duo of Akimbot
Akimbot’s adventure is rich in twists and turns, with humorous dialogues, even if Shipset won’t win unanimous praise for his egotistical, arrogant side, which can occasionally get on your nerves.
Exe, on the other hand, is more serious, more solitary and, despite himself, accompanied by a companion, and he’ll be able to pull his weight, and not just with his gun.
In my opinion, “Don’t break my sockets” is the funniest line in the game, so I thought I’d share it with you, since it’s so much in keeping with the robotic theme and lends itself to a smile.
Can It Make Connections?
Akimbot is sure to capture the attention and interest of your viewers, thanks to its action-packed sequences, a story that will also keep you on the edge of your seat, and a rather good sense of humor. Putting all these ingredients together, it’s an explosive recipe that succeeds in doing what its counterpart has done in the past, namely finding its audience.
You can capitalize on the Ratchet & Clank hype with this French-style title, which stands out for its original experience. Among other things, you can pilot a dinosaur robot, fly through black holes in a spaceship, and much more, which I’ll let you discover for yourself.

Being a narrative game, Akimbot doesn’t have a huge replay value, unless you want to try it on a higher difficulty, but what the game does offer, despite some long stretches, will capture your audience’s attention.
