Age Of Wonders 4 tests your skill in an epic 4X rich fantasy world
Age of Wonders 4 is a bewildering game full of rich lore, fantasy, and content consistently updated with new DLC all the time in a planned roadmap. Set in the 4x genre, you can create your race from humans, undead, creatures and more.
Age of Wonders 4: What to expect
Your narrative weaves its way as you destroy fantasy races from other cultures, and begin to build your empire. You get narrative dilemmas as well as the ability to research multiple technologies as well as being able to fight in battles that have more similarity with Knights of Honor II’s battle system than Total War.
Although I am not a fan of the six units per army system; it does allow you to bring multiple units to the battlefield in its way through the reinforcement system. It’s an expensive game, however, and the DLC roadmap has been very consistent.
On February 27th, a new DLC focused on the Forests of Age of Wonders 4 known as Primal Fury will also be released as well. It is, however, worth the cost.
It needs a little more adjustments…
That being said, Age of Wonders IV does often feel like a half-finished game. There is still more content to be added; better diplomacy, reducing the AI’s capability sometimes to punish the player, adding new narratives and more races.
More stories would be a great addition as well. Sometimes I struggle between wanting to play the story narrative vs the sandbox mode. It can feel odd at times.
Be sure to spend your Imperium on your cities, upgrade and build as much as you can. Try and navigate through the diplomatic system, which at times can feel odd, and simplified but brutal in some other areas when it comes to the exchange of resources. That said, it is great for streaming to a fantasy audience.

Summary
Even often feeling like a half-finished game, Age of Wonders 4 is great for streaming if you and your audience enjoy fantasy games.
