League of Legends: NewJeans will present Worlds 2023 musical theme

It’s not long before the start of Worlds 2023, the League of Legends world championship, which this year takes place in South Korea, officially starts on October 10th. And to accompany the tournament, the group NewJeans was announced to perform the event’s theme song, titled “GODS”.

“GODS” was composed by Sebastien Najand, main composer for Riot Games, together with Alex Seaver (Mako), who also participated in songs such as “Legends Never Die”, “RISE”, “Awaken” and several tracks from the soundtrack of animated series Arcane, a huge success on Netflix in partnership with Riot Games.

“As the World Cup will take place in Korea and the success of the NewJeans group is meteoric, this partnership is destined to be a true cultural celebration. ‘GODS’ is a blend of epic, intense production elements and the beautiful, powerful voices of NewJeans, and will represent both the effort and glory that awaits our players at Worlds,” said Carrie Dunn, Global Head of Creative Development and Esports from Riot Games.

“GODS” will be released, with a music video, on October 4th and NewJeans is expected to perform the song live at the Worlds 2023 final, scheduled for November 19th.

Through this incredible opportunity, we express and discover a new and unique side of our voices. Singing the World Cup theme song for a globally renowned game is an honor. “GODS” music video will tell the story of a South Korean League of Legends proplayer

With Worlds 2023 taking place in South Korea, with K-Pop group NewJeans performing the theme song, the “GODS” music video will also celebrate one of South Korean League of Legends talents.

According to Riot Games, the Worlds 2023 theme song video will tell the story of Korean professional player Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, from discovering LoL in high school to his incredible journey at Worlds 2022, where he became champion with his team, DRX.
