Two Falls (Nishu Takuatshina): A Tale of Two Worlds
Two Falls (Nishu Takuatshina) is a narrative-driven adventure game that presents a rare and respectful exploration of both colonial and Indigenous perspectives in 17th-century Canada. The story unfolds through the eyes of two distinct characters: Jeanne, a French settler, and Maikan, a young Innu man. After surviving a shipwreck along the Canadian coast, Jeanne finds herself alone in an unfamiliar land, relying on her faith and the companionship of her loyal dog, Capitaine, to navigate the wilderness.
Meanwhile, Maïkan embarks on a personal quest to protect his people from looming threats. This dual narrative structure offers a powerful lens into cultural contrasts, colonial tensions and the deep spiritual bond with nature. The story is mostly linear, but players can make choices during some more intense moments and these choices can shape the protagonists’ personalities, reflecting their beliefs and experiences.

Exploring the Story-Rich Canadian Wilderness in Two Falls (Nishu Takuatshina)
Two Falls (Nishu Takuatshina) is essentially a walking simulator, with a big focus on story, exploration and few environmental puzzles. Its slow pace allows the atmosphere and narrative to take center stage as you journey through forests, rivers and settlements while inspecting objects, uncovering lore, and experiencing the world through two contrasting perspectives. If you have played titles like Firewatch, What Remains of Edith Finch or similar narrative-driven walking sims, you will likely find Two Falls to be an engaging experience.

However, it falls a bit short in terms of things you can do. Compared to its peers, there’s noticeably less interactivity and the choices you make throughout the story don’t significantly affect the outcome. As a result, replay value is limited and you may not feel compelled enough to revisit it after your first run. That said, Two Falls is still a good choice for streamers who focus on narrative-rich content, especially those drawn to culturally sensitive and thought-provoking themes.
Emotional Storytelling and Indigenous-Inspired Atmosphere in Two Falls (Nishu Takuatshina)

Visually speaking, Two Falls is simply beautiful. The environments are rich in detail and lore, supported by a moving soundtrack inspired by Indigenous and French-Canadian traditions. It creates a dreamlike atmosphere that enhances the emotional depth of the dramatic experience. While the character models and facial animations lack some polish, the great voice acting brings the characters to life convincingly. The performance on PC is pretty good too, with only minor glitches and occasional texture pop-ins that don’t affect the gameplay.
