Enshrouded

Enshrouded is a pleasant surprise in the survival genre

The last few months have been very positive for survival games, which are bringing novelties both in their gameplay and in the freedom that the genre brings to the player, and Enshrouded manages to surprise a lot in these areas.

Enshrouded delivers a gigantic world at your disposal

Enshrouded has a massive world, with lots to explore and, more importantly, lots of possibilities for building. I think that of all the survival games I’ve played, this one has one of the best and most fun ways of building in the genre, making it possible to destroy practically everything in the world and even dig huge tunnels. I spent hours with my friends digging to see how far we’d get and, in fact, we got very far and there was still a lot to explore.

What’s more, once you’ve picked up the gliding equipment, you can reach new areas and certainly have fun jumping and gliding straight off the mountains and reaching areas that were previously unavailable. I can see that this game will appeal to many survival game fans who like Valheim, for example, with a strong focus on exploration and building.

The world of Enshrouded is not randomly generated and being fixed, unlike the aforementioned Valheim, has allowed the developers to create a world full of secrets that reward the player’s exploration, with various weapons, equipment, spells and much more.

Wide selection of skills and souls-like combat are the highlights

After a few minutes of playing, I went to check out the skill tree and was initially startled by the amount of options the game provided me with, but after calmly analyzing it, everything is well organized according to the vocation the player prefers to follow, further increasing the customization of their gameplay.

It’s also very appealing for those who want to live stream the game, after all, your character will probably be different from other players, allowing your audience to follow your evolution and discovery of the world.

Speaking of the world, within this universe there are areas with a mist in which, upon entering, the player has a timer which, when it reaches zero, will consume the character’s life. You have to go through some of these areas to get materials, face bosses, discover rewards, among other things.

Enshrouded

In its combat, the game uses a gameplay somewhat similar to Souls-like games, with a system of defense, counterattack and rolling to dodge attacks. The game can be quite punishing for unprepared players, so souls-like fans will probably enjoy this game, even if its difficulty isn’t as high as other titles in the genre.

I think the weakest part of the game lies in its character creation and its slower initial progression. When I started creating my character, the options were so limited that I didn’t want to spend too much time there, and being able to customize your hero even to distinguish him from other players is something that for many is usually quite attractive.

Its slow progression at the beginning also put me off. I feel that I would have liked the game to allow me to progress a little faster in terms of creating armor, weapons and other things, and I felt that I was stuck at the beginning of the game for longer than I should have been.

At the time of this review, the game is in early access and has an excellent amount of content for the player. If you’re a streamer, you’ll certainly be able to keep the game alive on your live stream for a long time, especially if you’re playing cooperatively.

The game was tested in its steam version, as it’s a rather heavy game that requires a powerful machine. Overall, it ran on my PC without too many problems, but be aware of the game’s requirements.

The game is translated into a total of 15 languages, which is incredible for a game with a lot of content to come in this many languages, allowing streamers to feel more comfortable covering the title.
