Roots of Yggdrasil: Explore the Nine Realms in this roguelike deck-building indie title
There are times that, as streamers, we would like to play games which can be both enjoyable and able to offer us some chill times to spend in it.
Roots of Yggdrasil not only comes up with its beautiful norse mythology themed world but also its well designed roguelike gameplay, which is also capable of giving you chill times with your audience.
Roots of Yggdrasil and its Nine Realms are waiting for you
Roots of Yggdrasil is a roguelike city and deck builder game. In Roots of Yggdrasil while you are exploring the Nine Realms, you’re also collecting artifacts and upgrading your building deck to reach the top of Yggdrasil in this post-Ragnarok game.
I highly recommend those turn based deck building games for streamers because as I mentioned before, these games can provide you both relaxing and focused gameplay sequences. That means while you can try to build new decks and upgrade them, you can also chat with your audience.
You can both focus on the game’s mechanics, which are pretty enjoyable and makes the gamer wants to play again and again, or you can just play this game while you’re chatting with your audience. It perfectly fits for most of the scenarios of a streamer.
But I need to indicate something. As a game, Roots of Yggdrasil does its job pretty great. Mechanics are fun, game structure is working even with mixing of a number of game types but if turn based deck building games is not your favorite genre and you think that your audience don’t like them, there is nothing much to do.
I would still recommend to try Roots of Yggdrasil though, because of its smooth gameplay and great looking norse mythology themed world. Try to process in the game, overcome the challenges and upgrade your decks alongside your base. Also, problem solving is one of the most fun parts in Roots of Yggdrasil.
Can you survive the end of the world ?
Roots of Yggdrasil especially put forwards with its gameplay and not with its story or characters but I need to appreciate the world building of the game.
What I’m trying to state here is that, if you’re streamer who likes to play games which are mostly focused on their stories, cinematics and characters, this is not this game even if Roots of Yggdrasil does have some of this elements.
Roots of Yggdrasil represents norse mythology in its own way pretty well and the art of the game also looks amazing. I’m not an expert in norse mythology but if you’re interested in myths, I’m sure you’ll find something to interest you. But I have to remind you that Roots of Yggdrasil’s gameplay is why you’d like to play it at first.
As a roguelike game, Roots of Yggdrasil offers you a huge amount of gameplay time. You can always start a new loop for another round. I’m sure that this title will be a good pick for who wants to play a game which can survive longer in a stream.
When we look at the performance, Roots of Yggdrasil is an early access game but works perfectly fine on PC, STEAM version. Although there are well prepared animations and lots of objects time to time, it works just fine. I don’t think it will cause a problem to you.
