Godzilla Voxel Wars

Godzilla Voxel Wars has its charms, but it doesn’t appeal to everyone

Strategy games are a genre that some people really enjoy and others have no interest in. Because it’s slower and more static, it’s a little difficult to bring it to a live stream and in Godzilla Voxel Wars we have a strategy game with a similar style to titles like “Into the Breach”.

For those who don’t know it, it’s like chess, but you can see the future actions of your opponents to prevent them from attacking you or the city. Unfortunately, the Godzilla theme isn’t enough to attract an audience that isn’t already a fan of the franchise.

Gameplay is fun for strategy fans, but not so much for a live stream

In Godzilla Voxel Wars you have a board with various buildings, our beloved Godzilla and some monsters, and the aim is to cause as little damage as possible to the city and eliminate all the enemies.

Among them are classic enemies from the franchise, such as Rodan, King Gidorah, Biolante and others. Something interesting about the gameplay is that after defeating the enemies, you can summon them to help you in the battles, allowing you to be more creative in the ways you complete the stages.

The visual effects of the monsters crumbling into little blocks, the soundtrack from the classic films and the whole ambience as if it were a child’s bedroom and you were playing with your little toys are all very helpful.

However, if you’re not a fan of the Godzilla franchise, you won’t enjoy the game as much as the fans will and this makes it a little difficult to get people who don’t know or like the franchise interested in the game because of its gameplay.

Godzilla Voxel Wars

Godzilla Voxel Wars has plenty of content for strategy fans

The game has a very large number of levels, around 20 levels per area, in a total of 6 areas. In addition, there are more challenging versions of each area. Doubling the total number of levels available. That’s pretty impressive and brings a lot of content.

If you’re a streamer of strategy games and your audience likes the genre, then you’ll have plenty to cover. In addition to a very interesting level creation mode, which could be a little more polished, but which is very functional for creating your own challenges or testing something created by other people, however in my playthrough I didn’t find an online option, so it seems a waste not to allow you to download online levels from other players.

Godzilla Voxel Wars

The game was tested in its PC version on Steam and it runs very smoothly, being light enough to run on a live stream without putting too much strain on your machine.

The game is also only available in four languages, English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, which limits streamers somewhat. However, the game doesn’t require much knowledge of English, but it would make it easier to learn more about the monsters’ abilities and the game’s objectives.

Summary

In the end, Godzilla Voxel Wars is a charming, beautiful game that appeals to fans of the franchise, but that’s not enough to get much engagement on a live stream. What’s more, the fact that its stage creator has no online connection is a waste.
