Company of Heroes 3: Dare & Destroy Game Review

Company of Heroes 3: Dare & Destroy is a solid DLC, but I think its value depends heavily on how invested you already are in the game.

Company of Heroes 3: Dare & Destroy Battlegroups Review

The Battlegroups Feel Distinct

What I like most is that the new Battlegroups feel distinct. They do not feel like random ability packs thrown together for the sake of adding content. Each one gives its faction a different tactical identity.

The Free French Battlegroup gives the US Forces a tougher, more defensive style built around holding ground and gradually pushing back. The Wehrmacht Siege Breaker Battlegroup is more aggressive and destructive, with flame units, siege tools, and the Sturmtiger giving it a very direct “break the enemy line” identity.

The British Special Service Battlegroup feels more flexible and disruptive, while the DAK Elite Forces Battlegroup leans into veteran units, mobility, and stronger late-game pressure.

It Adds More Tactical Variety

That variety is the best part of the DLC. It makes matches feel fresher, especially if you enjoy multiplayer or co-op skirmishes against AI. I like having more ways to approach each faction, and the new options give me a reason to experiment instead of just using the same familiar strategies.

Company of Heroes 3: Dare & Destroy DLC Value and Content

It Is Not a Massive Expansion

That said, this is not a massive expansion. If you are expecting a big campaign addition or a huge wave of new content, this is not that. It is mainly for players who already enjoy the core gameplay loop and want more tactical choices.

Because of that, I do think the price is the biggest issue. The content is fun, but it may not feel like enough if you only play Company of Heroes 3 casually.

Paid Battlegroups Are Tricky

I also think paid Battlegroups are always a bit tricky in a strategy game. Even when they are enjoyable, they can make balance feel more sensitive because new tactics are locked behind DLC.

Company of Heroes 3: Dare & Destroy Final Verdict

Overall, I enjoyed Dare & Destroy. The Battlegroups are flavorful, useful, and fun to test. But I would recommend it more to regular players than casual ones. For me, it is good content, but it is also the kind of DLC I would rather buy on sale than at full price.

Summary

Company of Heroes 3: Dare & Destroy introduces four distinct Battlegroups that add meaningful tactical variety to the game. While the new options are fun and well-designed, the DLC feels aimed primarily at dedicated players, making its value harder to justify for more casual fans.
